PHILADELPHIA – On Wednesday, July 23, Life Science Cares Philadelphia welcomed over 500 professionals from across the life sciences industry to the Navy Yard and Citizens Bank Park for our sold-out summer celebration: Bases & Breakthroughs. The evening brought together corporate partners, Board members, volunteers, and newcomers united around one shared goal: disrupting poverty in Greater Philadelphia.
We kicked things off at The Central Green with our Pregame Party, featuring lawn games, live music, tailgate food, the Philly Pretzel Truck (generously donated by their CEO) and a fully stocked bar with generous contributions from Conshohocken Brewing Co., Stateside Vodka, and Kiki Vodka. Guests cooled off with the signature TWISTed Helix cocktail (created in partnership with Twist Bioscience) while connecting with colleagues, mission champions, and new faces. Shout out to our surprise Crack the Jack winner, Mark Lenker from TruSynergy, who took home a $500 prize with a lucky Cracker Jack box, proof that there’s a little magic in every moment.
From there, we headed to Citizens Bank Park, where the life sciences industry lit up Sections 205–207. Our story hit the big screen with a spotlight on the mission and a reminder that Philadelphia remains the poorest big city in the U.S. As professionals working in and around this city, we believe in our collective responsibility to create opportunity, and this night proved that belief is stronger than ever.
Board Chair Vin Milano threw out the ceremonial first pitch, and the roar from our section said it all: this community shows up.
