Position Summary

The Senior Accountant, International Finance reports to the Associate Director, International Accounting. This role will be critical in supporting the accounting team to scale and upgrade the accounting infrastructure, processes and controls in Seagen International; this includes 10 European legal entities with the accounting managed from the Zug headquarters.

The ideal candidate will have strong accounting experience and is curious to learn and develop themselves.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Associate Director, International Accounting and Senior Manager, International Accounting to meet monthly/quarterly close deliverables and deadlines.
  • Own the treasury and cash management activities including preparation and checking of payments, reconciliation of bank statements, monitoring of cash movements and liquidity, relationship management with the Group Treasurer and oversight of the Oracle Cash Management module. Work closely with the Source-To-Settle team to close cash clearing items.
  • Own the intercompany reconciliation process and the review of the intercompany documents, including providing support to the Tax team related to transfer pricing agreements.
  • Manage accounts receivable and credit control; and review the GTN claims received from customers.
  • Support the Tax team with direct and indirect tax compliance, with ownership of the VAT GL account reconciliations.
  • Own the lease accounting for office and car leases, capitalized for US-GAAP.
  • Prepare/review journal entries (Oracle) and reconciliations (BlackLine) for various month end processes including cash, intercompany, leases and fixed assets.
  • Review accounting treatment of month end transactions for compliance with US GAAP and function as subject matter expert for accounting topics (e.g., lease accounting, asset capitalization, prepaids, etc.)
  • Review internal financial statements/reporting packages.
  • Perform Oracle tasks, namely running the revalution, closing the ledger, running reports.
  • Support the preparation of the statutory financial statements and work closely with external accounting compliance service providers to deliver statutory filings. Prepare support and deliverables requested by our independent auditors.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in international accounting and finance.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS and GAAP.
  • Familiar with Shared Services environment (with internal and/or external resources).
  • Experience working with enterprise financial systems (Oracle a plus).
  • Good communication skills and fluent in English.
  • Other European languages a plus
  • Biotech/Pharmaceutical/High-tech industry experience a plus
  • Big 4 experience a plus
  • Microsoft Excel expertise necessary
  • Excel Power Query a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting equivalent.
