Summary

This position will be an integral part of building out a world-class Program Management operation for Capital Projects as Seagen continues to grow and expand within the US and globally. This position will lead a cross-functional team (internal & external) across the entire life cycle of all design and construction initiatives for small to midsize capital projects. This position reports to the Head of Program Management Operations, Real Estate & Facilities.

This role will support and improve the overall program and operational priorities and goals, establish best practices, establish governance, and leverage new Program Management Tools to set program & project budgets determine program/project KPI’s and track performance against those goals. The role will manage/oversee resource budgets, external staff management/development, project costs, time, QA/QC projects, identify and mitigate risks to projects within the approved capital program. This role works closely with The Head of PMO works and various stakeholders to plan, monitor and control all projects within the approved capital program.

he successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful program oversite & project delivery, construction management and an ability to improve project management practices, with a focus on team development – both locally, and geographically dispersed virtual teams.

Principal Responsibilities:

Program Management Governance:

  • Support the PMO role and operating model and make progressive improvements (e.g. centralized or decentralized, areas of focus)
  • Set standards for project management capabilities, including certifications and qualifications for Project Managers, success measurement criteria, methodologies, tools to be used, etc.
  • Develop project management practitioners and share knowledge of industry best practices
  • Provide detailed program management direction and support to the project delivery team
  • Represent Seagen to external entities and establish commercial relationships while ensuring compliance with contract conditions and relevant standards
  • Maintain consistency among the project teams’ commercial management and delivery processes and ensures the client’s expectations and requirements are integrated into the program’s commercial processes
  • Provide detailed project status reviews and recommendations to The Head of PMO, including the Capital Review Board by preparing budgets, forecasts, comprehensive financial analysis, and other commercial data studies as necessary
  • Manage the Capital Portfolio of small-midsize projects with Real Estate, Facilities, Technical Operations, EH&S and Engineering
  • Establish a working relationship with the City of Bothell
  • Comply with federal laws, state laws, industry best practices and norms
  • Actively manage commercial risk by working closely with The Head of PMO, Stakeholders, Legal, and Procurement to enhance processes and procedures
  • Develop and manage client relationships as appropriate, including management of expectations, communications, negotiations, escalation, feedback
  • Manage annual KPI targets for external consultants and conduct quarterly performance reviews
  • Partner with cross-functional department leads to facilitate the development of actionable work plans and resource allocations across projects
  • Partner with the various organizations that make up the REF department for the successful execution of capital projects
  • Support quality, program control, construction, design, and environmental health and safety
  • Ensure project teams are staffed effectively to support the execution of projects and optimize capacity utilization
  • Experience leading, optimizing and inspiring a diverse team of external consultants

Enhance Project Tracking and Monitoring:

  • Further develop, track, and provide project status and audit reports
  • Manage the risk, issue, and change resolution process, and work with others to take corrective action as needed
  • Oversee Project Managers for the delivery of projects/programs on time, within scope and on budget
  • Review current KPI’s and clearly communicate them with contractors, designers and other and vendors
  • Develop and implement contractor audit processes and ensures cost, schedule and project execution performance continuously meets established benchmarks

Portfolio Execution:

  • Provide guidance on all business activities to maintain quality standards, consistency and technical coordination and thus ensures continuous improvement of the delivery of program services
  • Partner with Procurement to develop a long-term strategy to establish strategic agreements with select contractors, designers, and other vendors
  • Develop and implement tools and processes to manage project risk, project estimates and costs, and resources and metrics
  • Communicate status of active client portfolio to The Head of PMO and KPIs related to milestones, deadlines, hours, margins, risk management, safety, etc.
  • Monitor compliance with policies and standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction/Management, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 8-10 years in a managerial role overseeing capital projects in large to mid-size organizations leading staff of Project Managers or Operations professionals
  • Ability to mentor, coach and effectively transfer expertise to others
  • Facilitation, Negotiation & Problem Resolution Skills
  • Ability to build a strong network and relationships within Seagen and with external consultants and vendors
  • Demonstrate professional, high integrity, trustworthy and ethical behavior always
  • Advanced level of critical thinking, communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
  • Authority to delegate and monitor work completion, timely and accurate, across teams
  • Domestic and International Professional work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Licensed/Registered Mechanical or Electrical, PE
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Proficient use of Computer Maintenance Management Systems, CMMS
  • Experience in a Plant Facility Maintenance function
  • 5+ year in management of technical staff within GxP or other regulated environments
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and ability to make effective decisions independently with minimal escalation to or supervision from supervisor
  • Understanding of aspects for Commissioning and Qualification activities
  • Ability to influence and persuade cross functional groups
  • Continuous improvement leadership skill sets
  • Knowledge of FDA, EMA, GxP and ICH regulatory requirements
  • Experience with International Standards Boards and Global Regulatory
  • Progressive experience in Facilities Management
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Facilities Management Professional (FMP)
  • Additional accreditations or certification especially centered around sustainable design – i.e. Commissioning, LEED AP
  • Lead Member, Membership within External Industry Organization

The hiring pay range for this position is $162,000 to $210,100 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role.   Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
