Summary

With Seagen’s mission to rapidly bring practice-changing innovations to the oncology landscape our Canadian team is expanding with the addition of a new MSL position in support of a growing development program.

Reporting to the Medical Director the MSL Team is a part of Medical Affairs and consists of field-based scientists that have direct interactions with investigators and key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the field of oncology. The MSLs work cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Commercial and our internal Medical Affairs colleagues to support our products and our advancing pipeline. Implement KOL field strategy, including KOL identification and engagement. Facilitate scientific discussions in the field and work with in-house and field partners to facilitate ongoing information/clinical data sharing (i.e., new data, competitive information, customer insights, medical communications support) to optimize communications and coordinated activities across the organization. Deliver scientific presentations internally and externally. Compliantly respond to HCP requests for off label information. Execute conference strategy, including staffing of scientific booths at major conferences and regional clinical meetings. Act as a key liaison for all aspects in the support of investigator sponsored trials (ISTs). Support planning and execution of advisory boards. Partner and collaborate effectively with internal business partners, especially with members of the clinical teams, to support corporate trials including trial awareness and education.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with investigators and KOL’s within assigned territory.
  • Engage in scientific exchanges with KOL’s and investigators in either one on one or group settings.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the regional medical affairs strategy in alignment with the national strategies.
  • Effectively communicate field insights within Medical Affairs and to other internal partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners within Medical Affairs and across other departments.
  • Must stay abreast of relevant medical literature in a self-directed manner

Qualifications:

  • Education: Pharm D, PhD Degree in Science or Health Sciences (preferably in oncology) or MD preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of pharmaceutical experience or equivalent preferably involving work with academic specialists and/or community leaders.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the therapeutic area of Oncology.
  • Good knowledge of therapeutic area (both basic and clinical literature).
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire and maintain product, disease and competition knowledge.
  • Ability to understand and integrate complex scientific concepts.
  • Advanced presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Expert communication (oral & written) and listening skills.
  • Language requirements: English (French would be an asset).
  • 50-75% regional travel required. Must reside within region and live within a reasonable distance of a major airport.
  • Preferable location: Toronto, Ontario.
