Summary

As a Principal Software Engineer in the Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) group, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and support of software solutions. You will also have the responsibility to mentor and influence talented software engineers, inside and outside of your team and play a key role in establishing best practices and driving solution architecture and complex decisions on larger initiatives. We are looking for a highly experienced full-stack Software engineer who can build state-of-the-art cloud-native systems, backend services, and multi-platform targeted UI for a variety of key software needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the lead on full-stack software engineering efforts on agile delivery teams, collaborating with product owners, architects, designers, and other developers to deliver business value on an iterative basis.
  • Acts as technology SME for product teams with hands-on contributions to the design, development, and implementation of cloud-native applications and services with a focus on scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Build solution architecture/design of software applications and hold a high bar in design.
  • Use your deep understanding of product architecture, usage patterns to grow and mentor other software developers and technical team members on the team to ensure that all software is built to follow industry best practices for resiliency.
  • Ensures delivery of high-quality software by writing clean code and utilizing pair programming, test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration, and code reviews.
  • Influences development of technology strategy aligned while achieving department goals and helps the team to execute against strategy.
  • Act as the driver for innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
  • Bring an expert understanding of the systems, their dependencies, and the ability to forecast and mitigate challenges effectively.
  • Review pull requests and enforce consistency, performance, readability, and security across the codebase
  • Act as the Technical Product Owner for applications developed in the ETS group.
  • Be an active participant in internal technology review committees at Seagen and offer constructive opinions and input.
  • Perform research on relevant technology products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the industry.
  • Resolve user requests and incidents, and support end-user communication and training, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by organization leadership.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience as a full-stack software engineer across all phases of a software development lifecycle, with a proven track record of leading the development of custom cloud-native applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in modern technologies like NodeJS, React, C#.
  • Proven experience and expertise in RDBMS and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Proven experience in practices TDD, BDD, unit testing, pair programming, and Extreme Programming (XP) with an ability to mentor and coach others in these techniques.
  • Expertise in DevOps and infrastructure-as-code automation with tools like Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in iterative development models such as Scrum, SAFe, etc.
  • Proven expertise in utilizing native cloud technology and modern architecture practices to build high-scale distributed systems.
  • 2-3 years of experience in GraphQL and building systems based on event-based architecture.
  • Strong and proven experience working with cloud providers like Azure and GCP with a background both in serverless and container-based approaches.
  • Expertise mentoring other engineers in principles such as SOLID and 12 Factor App.
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn new things, techniques, and technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and/or medical device industry is desirable.
  • Experience with 21 CFR Part 11, SOX, and software validation processes is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related technical or scientific discipline OR equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certifications are highly desired.
