Summary

The Manager, R&D Finance will be the finance business partner for two to three late stage clinical programs. This position will provide financial guidance through analytics, reporting, and a strong understanding of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead FP&A activities for late stage clinical programs
  • Prepare forecasts and quarterly business review presentations, assess risks and opportunities, and deliver financial insights and decision support to business partners and Corporate Finance leadership
  • Support latest estimate and annual budgeting process, including inputs to the budget planning tool, identify key drivers of growth, pressure-test budget assumptions, and prepare executive presentations
  • Provide financial modeling and ad hoc analysis to measure the impact of strategic decisions on financial projections
  • Manage accounting processes and month-end activities
  • Perform month-end close activities, including project accruals, general accruals, and reconciliations
  • Lead analysis of financial and operational results versus plan, and highlight significant variances for internal reporting
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, and manage quarterly and annual audit requests
  • Ensure appropriate expense coding, and collaborate with accounts payable and purchasing on issue resolution  Serve as the primary business partner for late stage clinical programs
  • Ability to interact across all levels of the organization, and drive discussions on financial matters
  • Stay engaged with business partners on business and project changes to support month-end and planning activities
  • Drive development of meaningful financial analyses and create effective presentations to communicate conclusions and recommendations to senior leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of finance/accounting experience
  • Minimum 3 years of biotech or pharmaceutical experience, preferably supporting R&D
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years in a business partner/client facing role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced growth environment
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills to support financial analysis and executive presentations
  • The ability to present data and effectively communicate complex information to non-Finance people; written and oral
  • The ability to influence with strong interpersonal and communication skills Self-starter who deals well and thrives in ambiguity
  • Strategic thinker who must be detail-oriented and have analytical problem-solving capabilities
  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing business priorities while meeting tight deadlines

The hiring pay range for this position is $112,000 to $145,200 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
